Morning Set
Morning Set_edited.jpg

Soon after I was hired at WESH I was asked to design a set for our morning show. Prior to my hire, there was an accident on one of the sets. A piece of scenery fell and injured one of Florida's United States senators. I was given the guidance that whatever I designed, it could not fall and hurt anyone.

The design I came up with met this requirement and the limited budget. It was affectionately named "The Life Raft" by the morning crew.

WESH moved into a new "State-of-the-Art building in 1991. The architects incorporated a newsroom backdrop for the news set, but no design was done for interviews, cooking segments, fashion shows or other presentation areas. I was tasked with designing a set that met these multiple needs. I worked closely with our gifted in-house carpenter.

Also missing was an interview area adjacent to the main set, and an area to do sports stand-ups.
