Posters, Programs, and other Advertising
I gained a reputation for creating posters, programs and other advertising artwork. I did commissions for outdoor art festivals, museum shows & events, the Pioneer Days Festival in Pine Castle, symphony & opera performances, and for commercial clients.
I did program cover art for the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival Program published by the Sun Herald and later published the program myself. In 1983 I my design was selected for the official SPSAF Poster. The poster was used to advertise the art festival and was sold as a souvenir. My design was the best seller of all posters printer up until that time.

Pine Castle Art Center
I taught drawing at the Pine Castle Art Center.
I also did the cover art and graphic design for the annual Pioneer Days Festival Program. One year I also did a poster which was an original hand-printed silkscreen.
I received a to make a commemorative silkscreen print that used a historic photograph of the "Pine Castle", a house built by a notable early settler.

The Orlando Opera became a client and I did newspaper ads promoting performances. They were pleased with this work and commissioned me to redesign their logo.
I did several more traditional designs but they settled on this one that conveyed a more futuristic look.
Florida Symphony Orchestra
The Florida Symphony Orchestra became a client at this time. I did posters for them. These were commercially printed.
Other Outdoor Festivals
John Young
Science Center
This show at a science venue presented exhibits showing the science behind mummification. The show featured an architectural display created by a regional architect. The poster was committed by the architect.
Hyatt Regency
Grand Cypress
The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress as a major hotel that opened a short distance from Disney World. It was a high-end destination and featured elaborately landscaped grounds. The front of the hotel features cascading waterfalls surrounded by tropical plants.
The lush landscape and the mayan pyramid-like architecture of the main building were the inspiration for the poster.
The poster was presented a a gift to VIP visitors who attended the grand opening.

Winter Park Telephone
One of my first commercial assignments was to photograph the new Winter Park Telephone building. I was hired by an advertising firm and I did not know what the pictures would be used for. To surprise, when the following year's phone book was published...there was my picture.
Florida Celery Exchange
After oranges, one of Florida's largest crops is celery. Florida produces more celery than any other state. The Celery Exchange is the growers group charged with promoting the crop.
I was hired to come up with promotional concepts for the commission. Celery Man stood out, but ultimately was not selected for their advertising.
